The Project:

This annotated bibliography was created as a place to aggregate sources for research involving the multimodal analysis of the relationship between text and images in children’s literature and more specifically, picture books.

 

The Author:

Christopher Vitale is a Master’s of Liberal Studies in Digital Humanities at the CUNY Graduate Center. Interested in the relationship between visual and linguistic narrative, Christopher employs the use of computational linguistics, computer vision, and distant reading in analysis of picture books and children’s literature. Leading a team of DH scholars, Christopher facilitated the creation of TANDEM, a tool that introduces scholars to multimodal analysis of image artifacts that contain text.
